The previous year, Samsung, OnePlus, and Oppo announced their extended software policy offerings 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security patches for their high-end smartphones. Now, Xiaomi has also extended its software support policy with two upcoming devices that will be showcased in Berlin on September 26, 2023.

As per the communication Director of Xiaomi Daniel Desjarlais, the company has assured the 4 Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches for Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro this move demonstrates their commitment to their users. This indicates that the upcoming models are expected to receive an update up to Android 17.

Previously, Xiaomi announced the 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches with the Xiaomi 12T series, now its successor takes one step further which could surely bring benefit from a change in software policy.

As we know, Xiaomi’s software updates have been far behind its competitors over the years but now seems the company is ready to match the software support likes of Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, etc.

Samsung already provides extended software support for lots of devices, so we are hoping Xiaomi can add more smartphones to the list in the coming months.
